With September approaching quickly, this is a reminder that IBM Maximo End of Support for version 7.6.1.3 and its compatible products will officially end on September 30, 2025. After this date, IBM will no longer provide regular base support for these products, which includes software updates, patches, and technical assistance. We want you prepared for what is coming, so here are some things to know to keep your Maximo up-to-date and running smoothly in this transition.
The suggested path forward is to move from your current version of Maximo to the new Maximo Application Suite (MAS) to maintain optimal performance, security, and access to the latest features. MAS represents the next generation of asset management solutions offering enhanced capabilities, improved user experience, and integration with advanced technologies. If that is not currently a topic of discussion within your organization, temporary solutions are available.
Although regular support ends in September, IBM is offering the following additional support options depending on your current licensing model:
Maximo Legacy (Traditional) Licensing – For those customers still on the traditional licensing model (Full Authorized, Limited Use and Express use), IBM is offering Sustained Support for up to 5 years and Extended Support for 12 months post September 30, 2025 – both are at an additional cost.
- Extended Support: Allows customers to extend support for specific software versions or releases that have reached their end-of-support date, providing 12 months of assistance (from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026). This includes support for usage and critical bug fixes.
- Sustained Support: A mandatory move (if not upgrading) that provides customers with up to five additional years of support for software products that have reached their end-of-support date. This service aims to help clients maintain their current software environments while planning migrations to newer IBM platforms, offering an alternative to operating without support or seeking third-party solutions.

MAS Application Points – for those customers who have already made the shift to the new licensing model (even if you have not yet upgraded to MAS 8/9), IBM provides dual entitlement support at no additional cost. Beginning October 1, 2025, the dual entitlement for 7.6.1.3 will include the options in the chart below until April 30, 2027. Optional Extended Support is available at an additional cost (20%).
